It is the first day of June, and today was one of those "everyone decided they were going to grow up on me" days. And I'm not even exaggerating-- literally both of my children reached another milestone! First and foremost, Ryen graduated kindergarten with flying colors and an excellent report card. I just keep asking myself, "can this really be happening? Is this day really here?" I swear life seems to slip right through my hands sometimes. How on earth have I been a mother for almost 6 years, when I feel like my baby, who is now a first grader, was a chunky little newborn making gaga eyes at me just yesterday? I was able to go to his class this morning, where his baby brother and I watched him receive an award for having the brightest ideas in his class. I watched and listened as his teacher read the children their very last book of the school year, and I'm almost certain it was probably the quietest her group of "kids" had been all year. Almost as if they knew, summer will be fun, but their first teacher will be missed and one to remember! I also got a great idea from a dear, sweet friend of mine to fill up a couple balloons and get ribbon to decorate the backseat of my car with, as a nice fun surprise for Ryen to jump into after finishing his last day.

As for my other wild boy, at two and a half years of life he has finally discovered his legs are long enough to climb out of the crib with. His dad and I thought maybe it was a one time thing, but after putting him down for a nap this afternoon and him following not too far behind me as I left the room on THREE different occasions, I knew it was time. The transition has started for naps so far, because for some reason it only seems to be during daytime nap times, and not at bedtime. After a few attempts, he got the hint and stayed in the big boy bed by himself quietly, and within five minutes, passed out. Hoping tomorrow is just as easy.

My husband and I found this day to be so joyous, mixed with many emotions-- mainly for me because, as much as I enjoy my children growing and learning and becoming such amazing human beings, I just cannot stand how fast time seems to go. And every year I swear it just goes faster. I know how much I am going to miss all of this. I know the days will come all too soon, when I will be saying, "remember when our kids were in kindergarten" and it kind of saddens my soul. I want the time to slow down for just a moment, but because I know it won't, I am learning to live in the moments, hug my kids tighter, stop looking down and look up. Be more present with them, more patient, and love them more and more.

I want to grow old knowing I am the reason they grew into beautiful, sweet souls. I want them to always know that their father and I have more love for them than they will ever, EVER know! I will always pray that my kids remain original, and grow up making the right choices, being eager to learn and grow in the Lord. And that they will never forget how proud we are of them. Here's to another year, more milestones, and much more growing together as a family.

Now if I could only raise my cat up in the right ways, so that he would quit pushing every object off of my kitchen counters, bathroom sink, and bedroom dresser, I think I could have this parenting thing down pat.

Hello & happy spring! At least, it is here in Florida. Today it was 85 degrees outside and absolutely gorgeous. So while I was out doing a little shopping today, I picked up a few items to spruce up my sofa table. The same table that still, until about an hour ago, had my Christmas vases displayed on it. I know, shame on me.

First item is this beautiful frame. This is a find from none other than Marshalls: $6.97 5x7 frame.

I got this picture on the inside from a sweet friend at Matt and I's marriage group we attend every Wednesday.

Second find of the day was again at Marshalls: $12.99 candle lantern.

I went to the dollar tree and found these fake lemons and apples to give it a pop of spring color: $1 each.

I didn't get enough fake fruit to fill the box up, so I topped it off with some green and yellow tissue paper that I have tons of already at home, and some white flowers that were originally used in one of the bouquets at my wedding.

The flowers in the vase are currently dying from valentines day. Am I the only one who just loves the way dead flowers look in a vase?

The teal vase I keep on for all holidays just because I love it! I re-purposed an old whiskey bottle, by stripping the labels and painting a bit over half the vase with some paint I got from Walmart. Probably about $1. At the very top I sprayed some glue on it and sprinkled some pretty teal glitter on it. Then I had my oldest boy go pick out some stray twigs that had fallen out of the front yard tree, which I then sprayed the very tops with some glitter glue and sprinkled a bit of the teal glitter on there as well.

So simple, yet it makes my living room feel so much more alive! I love a good decor find from Marshalls! Then again, who doesn't?

                                       With Love,

Ingredients:
  • 4 to 5 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (OR 5 to 6 boneless, skinless chicken tenderloins.
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of broccoli soup.
  • 1 cup sour cream.
  • 32 buttery round crackers.
  • 1 can sweet corn. (optional)
  • 1 bag steamed broccoli, drained. (optional)
  • 1 stick butter.

Directions:

(Serves 4 to 5 people)

  1. Preheat oven 350°F (175°C)
  2. I prefer pan frying chicken tenderloins until cooked all the way through, with a tiny bit of butter and a pinch of garlic salt and pepper for seasoning.
  3. Pull chicken apart into bite sizes with fingers, or chopped with food processor.
  4. Mix sour cream and soup together.
  5. Add drained, steamed broccoli, drained can of sweet corn, and mix with chicken sour cream and soup.
  6. Melt down a whole stick of butter in a pot on stove.
  7. Add 36 crushed crackers to melted butter and mix.
  8. Spread on top of mixed chicken, soup, sour cream, corn, and broccoli.
  9. Cover and bake for 30 minutes (or freeze and bake for another time).
I found the original recipe at another website and over time I made it my own. I've used the mushrooms and it is delicious, but I like to save some for next day's lunch and have found the mushrooms go bad by then. I also recommend mixing in some seasoning, as the original recipe is quite bland.

My new and improved recipe is easy, fun, and delicious, even my little picky eaters love it! You can use all sorts of different veggies, too. If you try this, let me know how you like it and if you tried anything different.

ENJOY!!

Items Needed:
  • 4 Glass Vases (Any shape or size)
  • Variety Of Flowers (4 or more for each vase)
  • Black Spray Paint with Gloss/Semi-Gloss Finish
  • Orange Paint (Or any fall color you prefer)
  • Tissue Paper (Optional)

How To Make It:
  • First spray paint all the vases, making sure you are outside or in a nice open area so you aren't breathing in the fumes.
  • When Dry, hand paint (or stencil, whichever you prefer) spelling out F.A.L.L onto each vase.
  • Tissue paper (I had at home) was then placed into each vase just to add some oomph and texture with the flowers.
  • Last, arrange your flowers into each vase however you prefer. I chose a variety of fall colored flowers with a pop of gold to really make it stand out.

Easy as pie, right? I made these with my 5 year old son, And all for $10! Happy crafting my friends, and enjoy all the fall activities you get yourself into this year. ➳
