Lifestyle & Mommy Blog

September 12, 2013 my bunny became an official soldier of the United States Army!  Words cannot express how proud I am of this handsome man of mine!!

I know It's been a while since updating, but obviously I have been spending as much time as possible with my husband being home.
You never know just how much you can miss someone until they are gone for a while, then getting to hold them and touch them for the first time in months is such a magical feeling.  I was so nervous to see Matt again (even if it was only 3 months).  I felt like a kid with a big crush on this guy and it was our first date or something.  I played it over and over again in my mind what it would be like, and how our reactions would be.  I didn't even care what any officer had to say, I was going to jump on him and not let go! Which I did but I was told to get down haha.
As I've mentioned before, Matt did get split-ops so that we could purchase our first home together before going to AIT. He was granted up to 6 months, and in the first week Matt was home we looked at 9 houses!  The 9th one was the one and we put in an offer for it Friday evening and the offer was accepted the very next day! We will be closing on or before November 4th which means these next couple of weeks are going to be very busy. Not to mention in between dealing with home inspections and signing lots of homeowner papers, the months of October-December are always the busiest for my family. October 2nd is Matts birthday, our oldest has a bunch of field trips and fall school activities coming up, halloween, more birthdays, Thanksgiving, even more birthdays, and then Christmas. And with Christmas come lots and lots of winter events.
The 3 months Matt was away helped me build my strength up as an independent woman, realize how lucky I am to have such an amazing man as my husband and the father to my kids, learn how to be a better mother and wife, and it also taught me that everyday we have here on earth is so crucial. Don't waste your time being upset about irrelevant and ridiculous things that won't matter by the next day. Love as much as you can and make sure you are showing that love in every way possible. Remember to show the ones you love how much you appreciate them, and take chances because time flies by so quick! You want to make sure that time wasn't wasted being unhappy, because we are never guaranteed  tomorrow.
Needless to say, I am so extremely happy that my husband is home and back in my arms, even if only for a little while before Army duty calls again.  I am learning to be a better loving wife to him every single day, and I am loving him more and more with each passing second. I praise God every single day for blessing me with the life I have and the people in it. Life is full of ups and downs, but it is much better when you choose to be happy about it either way.

Good evening lovely's!  I left at about 8 this morning from good old Florida, and I have arrived to South Carolina!  Tomorrow morning I get to join my husband hand and hand again for the first time in 86 long, long days!!!  I got about a 10 second phone call 2 hours before I made it here, saying he passed everything and to be at Hilton Field at 8am sharp.  I keep wondering what it's going to be like when I see him again.  I feel like a little teenager again about to have a first date or something! Within the next couple of weeks I will most likely be posting lots of pictures and maybe a video from all this weeks events.  I am SOOO proud to say that I have been army strong! I'm extremely proud to be an army wife and I can't wait to see my best friend again. All those lonely days and nights, all the frustration, all the sadness, no kisses, no hugs, no.... uh uh..., hardly any communication, and it was all so worth it in the end. xoxo

Hello lovelies :) I know it's been a little while but I'm here for a fantastic update.  I am so unbelievable happy to say that my Matthew graduates next week!! Not only does he graduate, but he is coming home with me as well!!! I cannot begin to explain how excited I am. He gets a 3-6 month break between BCT and AIT, just in time for all the holidays, his birthday, and for us to most definitely purchase our first home. Which makes me even more happy, because I'm starting to really get annoyed  staying at my parents. I mean, it has been a huge blessing having my family's support and we saved a load amount of money not paying rent and utility bills, but I can't help but feel like I'm in the way and stepping on everyones toes here with two kids and all our stuff.  My little sister and I hardly get along which makes things 10 times worse.
I have never been so excited to pack for a trip in my life! Almost 3 months without my honey has been.... depressing to say the least. I saved all my errands and list of things to do for this last week specifically so that I can remain super busy and time goes super fast! I feel so incredibly lucky to have him coming home with me instead of having to say another "see you later".  God has been so good to us throughout this entire experience, we are so blessed! Also, I got an almost 40 minute phone call this past weekend, and he sounded so good! He left for Victory Forge yesterday, which is the soldiers final big training test. This will be the test to pass that makes them official soldiers of the USA. Tomorrow is their last day at Vic Forge, and Tuesday we will be on our way to being back in each others arms.

7 days and a wakeup! Hooah!

I officially have 3 weeks from today until I am wrapped in my soldiers arms!  What a journey this has been so far, and it isn't over yet.  I just can't wait to finally pack my bags and I am never one to like packing.  Had it not been for having two kids to keep a smile on my face, and keep my everyday life super busy, I would have probably been a wreck.  But I didn't let myself fall apart, and looking back I am so glad I kept my head up.

So far, army life has been tough, and it's hardly begun!  However, it has been one of the best learning experiences.  If you are about to become part of the military family, I want to assure you that it is definitely worth it in the long run.  Maybe they disappoint half the time, and it's always "hurry up and wait", and they bring on a lot of stress and frustration, but the best thing I've learned throughout this whole thing is not only patience, but how to have an extremely better appreciation for my husband!  Boy, did I have it easy when he was here.  I didn't realize till after he was gone, how much I relied on him to take care of everything and always make it better, and thats partly because he did. He did and does everything he can to make everything easier on me to keep me happy.  I am a lucky woman, but it is my turn to start making it much easier on him.

August 19th was the cut off date to send any mail, so I got a big envelope and filled it with pictures and letters.  I did the idea of "open when" 's so that he wouldn't open them all at once, and he could have a few to read each week since I can no longer send anything.  i.e. Open when: you need a pick me up, you want to see something pretty (insert picture of me haha), you want to reminisce, you start to miss me, you want to know why I love you, etc.  and tons of pictures with the boys.  I am so sad that I can't write any longer, but then I remember that means we are that much closer to being done!  Ahhhhhh I cannot wait to see that handsome mans face.  What a thrilling moment that will be and I can't wait to share it with all of you.

Any questions please comment down below :)

Hi guys!  I know it's been a little while, i've been a super busy bee and I feel exhausted. Yesterday, August 10th, my first love turned 4 years old!  I just can't believe how fast the time is flying.  I also registered him for his first year of school, VPK.  He starts this Wednesday and I've already cried once just thinking about having to drop him off and leave.  He's never been in daycare or anything like that so I'm super nervous, but he is so excited and I couldn't be happier for him.  Momma's gotta let her baby spread his wings and fly ;).  This weekend he was at his dads so I only got him for about 6 hours on his birthday, so we had a pool day and I let him open presents.  It may not seem like much, but he's 4.... As long as he's having fun, he doesn't care what he's doing.

It was also Silas' first time in the pool!  Silas is a very laid back, chillaxed, mellowed out kinda dude.... So he didn't complain.  He basically just sat there watching all the big kids play.  I couldn't have asked for better children, honestly!  Ryen also now knows how to swim.  It was an all of a sudden thing, he just started doing it and I was very impressed.  He used to be afraid to learn, but he stepped out of his comfort zone, and he's a little fish now.

How many of you are Kiss fans out there?? I know my dad is!  My dad took me and my siblings out to House Of Blues, Orlando for a Kiss Tribute Band concert.  Now, I may have only known like 2 songs, but it freakin' rocked!  I had a blast with my family, and it was really nice to get away and get out of the house for a small break.  We got front row to watch Gene getting mean and got autographs and pictures afterwards. All and all it was a fantastic, rockin' night!

Okay, so you may be wondering how Army wife life has been going?  After all, this is what I made this blog for.  I haven't gotten any letters in about 5 days which breaks my heart because that's what I most look forward to everyday.  Not to mention, I was getting about 1-2 letters at least every other day.  The last letter I received was a bit of a rant from Matt, because his platoon is awful.  He says it's a very hostile environment and all anyone wants to do is learn how to kill others.  That's wrong!  But, he mentioned he will be receiving a sharpshooter medal and he was made a team leader!  I can't begin to express how proud of him I am throughout this experience.  The military often hardens a person, makes them cruel and mean and uptight.  Although I do worry about that in the back of my mind, I trust in God that he will come back loving me and our life together more than ever!  Also, even though the army has been more disappointing and frustrating than good news lately, we are hoping that Matt will be able to come home for a few months after basic, before shipping for AIT.  I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Even though I have started adjusting to a newer routine without Matt, it doesn't mean I miss him any less.  In fact, I miss him more with each passing day.  But I've grown to have a better appreciation for him than I ever have had before.  Some days I just want to get in my car and drive away because of all the frustrations of being a "single" mom without my best friend and better half physically here to hold me and comfort me. However,  I feel like I've discovered an amazing strength about me I never knew I had.  I depended on Matt for everything, because he is my rock.  And he still is, but my husband needs a rock too, and I'm proud to say that when he returns home, he is coming back to a new and improved Army Wife!!  I guess it is true when they say you never know how strong you are till being strong is the only choice you have, and I am living proof!

**30 days and a wake up, and I'll being all over that handsome soldier of mine! Hooah!

Hi dolls!  Excuse the environment of which this photo was taken, my little sisters room had a better mirror.  Any ways, it's been 5 months, actually almost 6 months now, since my littlest one was born!  Normally I wouldn't post pics like this, but I feel proud of myself for losing almost all my baby weight! I am 4-5lbs shy of my pre pregnancy weight, and I have lost 13lbs just since my husband left a little over a month ago.  That may or may not be from stress and not eating out as much as I did when he was here, but who cares, I'm losing weight either way ;).

Silas is a growing boy!  I'm very, very sad to say that he went on a nursing strike, & a number of other reasons why he is no longer breast feeding.  I planned on feeding him exclusively from the breast for at least a year, and we were doing absolutely amazing with it (no bottles either), until all of a sudden he decided he didn't want to do it.  After a couple weeks of struggling to get him to feed I finally went and spoke to my lactation consultant, who confirmed Silas was beginning to become very dehydrated and I needed to start supplementing.  I did everything I could to keep my supply up, but mother nature decided it was a no go. Although I was pumping and mixing with formula, my milk eventually dried up.  As sad as it was, I noticed a much happier little boy at feeding times, and even though I feel breast is best, he is still 100% healthy and growing perfectly!

Last time he was weighed was a couple weeks ago and he was nearing 15lbs!  Although he is pretty long and looks just like his daddy, I think he got my petiteness.  My husband was a big ole' baby, but Silas is a little guy, but growing by the minute.  We are still working on sitting up at almost 6 months old.  I feel like my oldest started doing that by now, but every time we try he leans as far forward as he can to get his feet and rolls over -__-.  He gets extremely excited playing in his jumperoo, I swear he will knock himself out one of these days. He's got a strong head on his shoulders, and rolling over is no problem for him.  Thats how he gets around these days.  He is my little sleeper too!  I have never seen a baby sleep so much in my life! My oldest still gives me a hard time about going to bed.  Silas loves being in his bed, I put him down and he will take an almost 3-4 hour nap a day (or two 2 hour naps) and doesn't make a peep when I put him down, or when he wakes up.  He goes to bed between 8 and 9pm, and sleeps all night till about 9:30am.  What the heck!  My almost 4 year old fights me going to bed at 9, and will still be up before 7am.  I guess it's true what they say about the 2nd child being the complete opposite from the first.

Lets see,  he has about three 8oz bottles a day and has cereal 2-3 times a day.  He squeals instead of laughs, and he loves to baby talk!  He finds his big brother to be the most interesting thing on earth and loves to watch him day and night. Feel free to follow and ask anything thing you want. I truly was blessed with the most amazing kids, and I couldn't be any more happier with the life I was given!

Hey there! 4 weeks are down!! That means there are about 5 and a half weeks left till graduation.  I've gotten about 5 letters in the mail from my sweet hubby, each envelope contains about 2 letters in them.  He's doing great, I am so proud of him! He's actually enjoying himself and learning a lot.  As of the last letter I received he has not yet gotten any of my letters, which means when he does, he's going to get like 30 letters at once.... oops ;).

As for me, I've been keeping really busy with the boys & my family. My little Silas baby turned five months old on the 17th!  I cannot believe how fast time is flying, and how many things change in just a blink of an eye. He is seriously the happiest little thing, full of smiles and sweetness!  He rolls over, eats cereal, "try's" to sit up, laughs out loud, sleeps through the night, takes two 2 hour naps a day, puts himself to sleep without any fuss, and recognizes people.

My Ryen is also growing faster than a weed. He is gong to be 4 years old in 2 and a half weeks!  He also starts preschool, and is super excited about it.  I smarter than his own good, and is so polite and sweet especially to others.  He makes it a point everyday to hug me and say, "I know you miss daddy, but I love you he will be home soon."  He absolutely melts my heart and I am so proud to be his mother.  Every time his mouth opens I am blown away at what comes out. Ha ha!  The past few weeks since Matt left, life has been hectic and we haven't had much one-on-one time, so my mom watched Silas and Ry and I had a movie date to see 'Turbo' in theaters!  It reminded me how important it was to just let go, take a deep breath, and have fun!  He asked me if I was going to teach him how to have a "date", so that's what I did.  I asked him if he was going to pay.... His response, "yes, with your money." I told him when he's old enough and has a real date that won't be what a girl wants to hear ;). God love him!

In between errands, cleaning, bottles, changing diapers, & occasionally fitting in a shower ;), my little sister flew in from being away for a month with her grandparents.  So we had a nice family dinner out, and a movie after the kids were in bed.  My brother also came back from Mexico prior to that so we had a lot to celebrate!  We went out of town to a family friends house one day, so it was a little bit of a drive to get there.  I sat in the back with my twin sister and little brother (my best friends) and for that short amount of time I caught a glimpse of what it was like when I was younger and had no responsibilities.  We joked and I laughed till my sides were hurting, we picked on each other and talked about old times!
Through this past week, I've actually learned a lot!  As much as I wish God would stop this train, or at least slow it down so my kids could stay little forever, I realized that the reason I was so stressed was because I try to get everything done in one day.  Well that's impossible and won't ever happen!  I learned that I just need to do one thing at a time and relax a little bit, because there has never been a time where things weren't taken care of.  I miss my husband more than anything in this world, he is my soul mate and my very best friend, but I do not for a second regret the decision to be apart of the Army!  I've become so strong through this and discovered an independence about myself and it's awesome!  I'm keeping on and staying army strong!  Hooah!

Whomever said missing someone get's easier with time, lied.  In fact, I'm pretty sure it's the exact opposite considering I feel like it get's harder and harder with each passing day.  However, I can say what a lucky woman I am to have someone so special to miss because there are others out there that don't have that opportunity just yet.  It has almost been two months since Matt left and we have about 58 day's left before meeting up again as he graduates!
I got that gut wrenching 40 second last phone call last monday (1 week ago today) where I was disappointed to find out he couldn't give me his address like we were informed he would be able to do.  Instead I had to wait for a letter that I was told several times would take weeks before getting one.  But, 3 day's letter I was so surprised to find my very first letter from my hunny!! They were letters he wrote while he was at reception so I kind of knew what was happening, but they were encouraging and it was the best feeling to read those words telling me how much he loves me.  Then, two days later, I got ANOTHER letter! Finally something to look forward to (besides seeing him again of course). Basic is not as bad as he was expecting it to be and he is actually enjoying learning and adjusting to a new type of life. I can't wait to get more and more letters until we meet again :D.
Amidst all this, it has been two of the most frustrating weeks yet.  So much happens all at once.  I shouldn't be surprised since this is how my life works.  One crappy thing happens and then it's like a domino effect and it all comes crashing down around me.... OK, so maybe it isn't that bad. But, somedays, it really does feel like I could be perfectly happy with crawling into a hole somewhere and staying there for 58 more days.  The army didn't pay Matt on the day he was supposed to be paid, so now we have to wait another 2 weeks. Umm, hello? Like, we have 2 children to take care of and bills to pay do you think I have a money tree growing in the back yard? NO! Because if we did, well, we may not even be in this predicament in the first place haha. I miss working, but being with our kids is the most important thing right now and lets face it, it is WAY more fun!  I would choose watching cartoons, making blanket forts out of couch cushions, and playing pee-a-boo over being a professional ass wiper and making more money any day! (I used to be a nursing assistant if you didn't get the ass wiper joke).
Just another day in the life of being married to the Army and your husband being away for training. Lonely, exhausted, emotionally and sexually deprived, and extremely bored.  I mean, talking to a 4 year old about made up creatures and babbling to a 5 month old can be entertaining, but I surely miss having an actual adult conversation ;).
If you are following along with me in this journey and you have any advice, have at it! OR even any suggestions as to what you want me to blog about that would be great too.  Any ideas are greatly appreciated.... and if you aren't following me you should ;) Have a great week guys and gals!

Well we are finishing up week 2 of our soldier being away & heading into our 3rd week.  And wouldn't you know, my husband is STILL sitting at reception!!  First he was supposed to leave two Saturday's ago, then he was supposed to leave this past Monday, then it got pushed till the Friday after the Fourth of July, then to today (Saturday) NOW he's not leaving till Monday.  As much as I have enjoyed being able to still have contact with that handsome man of mine, I just wanted to get this over with & now there is an added 2 weeks time of being apart.  He was supposed to be gone 10 weeks graduating August 29th, now it isn't until September 12th.  This Army thing has been pretty frustrating already and we have hardly even started.
Anywho this week we stayed pretty busy!  Finally moved everything out of our townhouse and into storage (with our needed essentials now at my parents where we will be staying till Matt get's home in December).  We spent the beginning of the week getting settled in and getting organized.  Not sure how much good that does with a mind that seems to forget everything these days anyways, and kids, well mainly one kid for now, who is consistently on the go and making a mess.  God love him!  My little Silas is hardly the messy kind at the age of 4 and 1/2 months, aside from eating his cereal. HA!  We had our first Fourth of July without Matt & it was pretty tough on me.  Not that I can let it show when it's very important to keep a strong heart for our boys.  Ryen had a blast from eating too much BBQ, playing too hard on a giant blow up water slide, & watching plenty of fireworks light up the sky in our small town!  Silas spent his day taking long naps and eating plenty of milk and cereal.  His first time seeing fireworks didn't seem to phase him too much.  He just starred at them just like he does the T.V.  (Whatever).  It is almost midnight on a Saturday and I can hear the neighbors still setting fireworks off, and I cannot stress how annoying that is when you have 2 little ones trying to sleep.  It's taking everything I have not to be the crazy woman screaming from down the street to knock it off or else!

Today we went to a farm to pick blueberries!  It was a blast, and we got so many of them!  Watching my Ryen's face light up, and hearing his deep laughter brought back the smile on my face that has been missing since Matt left.  I'm starting to realize that my baby (& my first love) is not a baby anymore!  He's getting tall, and not to mention so handsome, and he is super smart!  I'm in awe that in just a month he will be 4 years old and starting school!! Where has the time gone?  Anyways, back to the blueberries.  We carried around a bucket and found every huge juicy berry we could find and we filled that bucket to the top!  Now, I love blueberries. Ry, not so much but the point is that he enjoyed just having fun with me.  We haven't had to have fun like that because life has gotten so busy with a new baby, and with Matt leaving, I forgot how important it is to just have fun and especially with Ryen.  Those Dixie Chicks were right, I guess some days you really do have to dance and live it up when you get the chance ;).  Plus I realize that it makes the time go by much quicker when you are enjoying the days.  We both needed it this week, because we are missing our soldier like crazy!

I do want to say how bad it sucks to watch our littlest one grow so fast, by myself.  I'm filming ever chance I get and taking heaps of pictures, of not only Silas but Ryen as well.  But, it just doesn't do it justice.  I feel like Matt is missing a lot of Silas because this is the time where he will grow and learn so many new things in such a short amount of time.  However, I know how important this Army life decision was for us.  As much as being lonely and missing someone can get you down, it is so crucial to remember why you make a decision like this is the first place.  We did this so that we can better not only our future, but the kids future as well.  Being an American Soldier is something to take pride in, because you are not only sacrificing and providing for you and your family, but for this entire country as well, and every soldier counts!  It takes an amazing person to do what my husband and many other husbands and wives do, to wake up every day being a part of a military life, & sacrificing for those who stand behind them.  And even for those who don't.
Continuing to remember that everyday apart just means another day closer to being back in each others arms.  All this time will be worth it in the end, and it is only a few short months out of a lifetime being together.  MILSO's stick together! Hooah!

                  ~Staying Army Strong, xoxo

This picture of my little Silas pulling my hair out may very well describe how I've been feeling lately. I want to pull my own hair out sometimes.  Life since my husband left, I almost want to say it's been a nightmare but I know it's nowhere near that.  Maybe I just feel that way because all I do everyday is feed, change, wipe, give naps, feed change, wipe, and put kids to bed.  No more romance, no more hugs and sweet kisses from that handsome man of mine.
When my husband was here, he made it a point to make sure I had some "me" time. Even if that meant going to the store by myself.  No kids running crazy, wining, crying, or bouncy off the walls. (Any mom knows, grocery shopping by herself is like a vacation).  I went from being the mom at my own home, to just being a mom living with my mom who tells me what to do and when to do it.  I thought I was an adult -__-.  Not to mention, I came back home while my husband is away so that I wasn't alone, and I've been nothing but alone since he left.  But I am happy we are saving a lot of money in order to buy a house when he returns.
My oldest sister and my little brother have been my main supports, and my sister lives in Texas supporting her loving soldier as well.  We FaceTime and she makes me laugh and it makes the time go by just a little quicker.  Even though I'm super pissed that my hubby is STILL at reception doing absolutely nothing and won't ship to his unit until NEXT Friday, it has been so nice to stay in contact through the phone for an extra 2 weeks. But I am so ready for this to be over.
I feel like I need a vacation and it's only been 2 weeks HA.  I miss him like crazy, and if I could snap my fingers and he be back home, I would.  I'd like to say it's getting.... more adjustable, but that may not be the case once he ships and we won't have any contact for weeks. I will probably fall apart all over again.  I feel like this is what the military is all about, they want the best of the best so they will do whatever they can to break you down to find out who will give up and who will push through.
If any of you are military wives, or girlfriends, or whatever you may be, what got you through?  Especially with kids, I feel like I'm going stir crazy not doing anything but being cooped up in the house.  I do feel like I've been way stronger than I thought I would be.  I think I cried more before my husband left than I do now.  My almost 4 year old has been very testy and very emotional since his dad left, so thats probably been the toughest part so far.
Anywho, life feels crazy and hectic, and I feel so overwhelmed sometimes. (Not to mention I don't have any hobbies to pass the time.) Haha.  I should probably discover one ;). To any of you military spouses waiting for your lovers to come home.... Godspeed to them! Stay strong and carry on.

A week ago today I dropped my hubby off, and said our quick & heartfelt goodbyes! So far it has felt like the longest week of my life, & I really, really wish it would speed itself up just a little bit quicker.  We are learning that the Army's known motto "hurry up and wait" is becoming more than true!  He had to be at the airport at 9am only to sit around and wait for a flight that didn't leave until 5pm!  Not to mention he should have shipped from reception to his unit yesterday, now he is having to wait another week! (reception, for those of you who don't know, is basically registration and check in. Shots, financing, etc.)  Which also means an extra week not seeing each other.  Now I don't know about you, but this isn't the experience I was hoping for.  I didn't want to be home alone with two kids, so I moved back to my parents house. I have lived on my own for 2 and 1/2 years so moving back home with my parents wasn't the greatest feeling. But now we are able to save a great amount of money to purchase a home as soon as Matt gets back from AIT.  And it is also very nice to be surrounded by my family who love and support me.  When you live in a military life, it is very very important to have friends, or at least family, who support you.  Because if I learned anything this past week, it's that being alone is very.... well lonely.  I can't tell you how many things have gone wrong this week, and of course it's right after my hubby is gone.  I had to deal with moving my entire 2 bedroom townhouse into a storage unit, move all of the needed belongings for not only I, but my 2 children as well into my parents house, make sure all the bills we no longer need to pay are shut off in time and I still have to clean the townhouse in order to get my deposit back.  Plus tote around my crazy 3 1/2 year old and 4 month old.  Needless to say it definitely took me the entire week to do those things and I'm not even all the way finished.
Already I am discovering what an army wife is all about.  It's about supporting your husband and loving him 100% no matter what.  It's about standing tall and strong and putting a brave face on and pushing through the tough times. Showing your kids (if you have any) that mommy has this with or without daddy because he is brave enough to be away from his family to defend our country.  I've learned so far that it is OK to cry even though you know crying won't change anything.  If you are a military spouse, one of the most important things to do is show your partner just how strong you are. Let them know how proud you are of them, don't complain about life back home because more than likely they are going through much worse.  They are the ones with no family or friends by their sides.  You will learn that writing encouraging letters mean more than you think.  Your spouse needs all the encouragement they can get.
In just one week I have learned how to be a "single" parent all over again, how to play the role of both mom and dad, and most importantly I've discovered a deeper love than I ever thought possible for my husband.  I've realized I have taken a lot for granted and I never realized just how much he did for me.  I have never been more proud or more in love with my man than I am right now. That love will continue to grow and grow for the rest of our lives.  Through this, God is teaching both Matt and I amazing things. Especially that we need to trust him with it all!  As hectic as life has been in only a short week, I am so glad to be an Army wife. And his Army wife at that!! ;) I am the girl who waits months for a kiss, a kiss that makes months apart worth every second, the girl who prays every second for his safety. I wait until he returns home to my arms.

First I will give you some background information. My husband, Matt, and I have been married almost a year and 1/2. We met in December of 2010, got engaged Sept. 30, 2011 and married 6 months later March 24th, 2012. Quick? I know! haha. But when you know, you KNOW!  Right away I fell head over heels in love with this man.
For a long time I settled with men way less than what I deserved. I didn't realize that until I met Matt and found out I was wrong all along.  This angel without any wings came and swept me off my feet showing me true, rare love!  I already had a child from a previous relationship, and instead of looking down upon that, he took Ryen under his wing as his own.  (They are best friends now.) He's kind, sweet, loves the Lord,  hilarious, dies to himself everyday, and becomes a better father and husband as each day passes.
Last year (2012) we decided we wanted another baby so that Ryen could have a sibling closer in age. I am one of six children, so sibling bonding is important to me.  The day after fathers day we discovered we were pregnant.  We were so excited, but Matt wanted to better our future.  We fought and fought so Matt could go active, but Ryens dad, at the time, wouldn't allow it. But that's besides the point. We decided the best route would be the reserves (which I was way more relieved about considering we won't have to pack up our lives and move 2 billion times) ;).  In January of this year (2013) he enlisted and we became apart of a world we knew nothing about. Well he knew a lot, but I was oblivious.  I just knew I would support him in any decisions he made no matter what.  June 18th, 2013 I said goodbye to my soldier!  Hardest thing in the whole world to do is say goodbye to not only your lover, but your best friend as well.  So far it's been a pain in the ass....
Not only was his plane delayed, the bus never picked him and 16 other soldiers up on the right day.  He should have already shipped from reception days ago, but instead is still sitting there.  Basic is 10 weeks, but now it may be pushed back 2 extra weeks -__-.  Then he goes off to AIT (Army school) for another 10 weeks.... Now, I don't know about you, but thats a long time to go without hugging, holding, kissing, loving, and laughing with your husband!  The military emotionally and sexually deprives you! HA.
I just want to be of some encouragement to any women who have their man brave enough to leave for the military.  As hard as it is, it's so important to stand tall and be strong.  Be nothing but encouraging to one another.  I love my husband more than anything in the world, but in just one week, I discovered a deeper stronger love for that man then I never knew possible.  I am so incredibly proud that he is so unselfish to sacrifice and put his family first.  I once heard someone say that leaving your family for the military is pathetic.  Let me tell you, it is the farthest from pathetic anyone can get!
So far army life has been heartbreaking.  But it has also shown me and my husband just how far our marriage can go! Just how strong we are and how much we love one another.  In the long run our future is looking great, and our family will be happy, healthy, and strong.  I'll keep you updated as we get further into army life, and take you on this journey with us!  As hard as this is, I am so glad we are Army Strong -xoxo

Ryen Mathew, my first love! He's almost 4, and I wish I could tell him to slow down. To stop growing up so fast, and to maybe rewind time back to baby snuggles, no talking back, and wanting to be with mommy all the time. As much as I'd like to stop time, or go back I wouldn't trade watching him grow strong and intelligent for the world! The very moment I laid eyes on him, I knew we would be best of friends, and we've been nothing less since then. He stole my heart and made me a better person. Watching him grow has been such a complete joy. He never ceases to amaze me, and everyday I learn something new.  He's so smart (maybe too smart for his own good), and has the biggest heart any kid could have. I started to wonder how I could be so young, yet have absolutely no energy then I realized how COULD I have any energy watching him go crazy all the time. He is in his own world constantly doing something :). I thought I knew love, then I had you and realized I never really loved. That unconditional love you feel comes when you have children.  They steal your heart in the most outstanding ways! He makes me want to be the best I can be, and to strive harder always. He taught me how to be unselfish and how to love someone other than myself. He taught me how to laugh and smile more than I ever have before. So don't stop growing my Ry bug! You are so strong minded and kind hearted! Push yourself to be the best you can be, keep growing and learn more and more because that is the reason I live! I'm so glad I wasn't as smart as I should have been at 17 years old, because it brought me the most amazing blessing and it also taught me how to love myself and remember that I deserve the world, too.

Silas Kade Hankes! God knew what he was doing when he blessed me with you! I often wonder what I did to deserve kids who love me so much. You are so handsome and beautiful inside and out. 4 months old and you steal my heart more and more everyday.  It brings so much joy to my heart watching you change and grow everyday.  You are learning so fast and getting so big so quick!  I can't wait to see all the things you accomplish in life.  I'm loving the stage you are at right now, and it will also be so amazing to see the kind of person you will grow to be.  What you will look like a year from now.  You look just like your father it is the cutest thing. How did I get so lucky??  Grow up strong and courageous, follow the lord, and love like you will never love again! Show the world how amazing you are. I will never understand why God chose me to be your mother, but I'm so glad he did! <3

It has been a LONG time since I've blogged! But, I finally got a brand new computer and now I can keep up. The last time you heard from me I was newly pregnant with my second boy. Well that little boy's now 4 months & 1 week old with the beautiful name of Silas Kade. So much has happened since stretch marks and hanging my head in the toilet. Well maybe not as much where the stretch marks are concerned ;).  Silas was born Feb. 17, 2013 at 7:05pm weighing 6.12lbs and 19in long! Ryen, our oldest will be turning 4 this Aug. 10th and he is quite the character.  He starts school this year as well, and also learned to ride his bike with NO training wheels!! If you are a parent, you could see how thats exciting.

In other news, I also became an Army Wife at the beginning of this year. My incredible husband just left for basic training last tuesday and it was the hardest goodbye I've ever done.  He is my best friend and we went from never ever being apart, to not seeing each other for 5 months (aside from 2 days at his graduation). Although this is taking a tole on our very hectic lives, it is also amazing what it will do for our future. My hubby is so brave and I am so proud of him for being one of the many who choose to serve our country and fight for everyones freedom.

NOW that I finally have a computer (a very nice and reliable one at that), I can keep up with blogging and fill you in on my hectic life of being a "single" army wife and mother. From my kids growing, my frustrations with life, and my excitements of the many blessings God has given me.  I will talk about what it's like to be married to the Army and how life changes with it. If you want to keep up with me through pictures my instagram is love_ink_everythingpink. Look for more of my blogs, dolls.

This is my first blog EVER! I wish I would have started this early on in my pregnancy, but oh well.  Let me first start by telling you a little bit about myself.  My name is Shannon, I am 21 years young, happily married for 7 months now, & this is my husband and I's first child together.  We have a 3 year old boy, Ryen, he is my husbands step son, but you would never be able to tell they weren't biological :).
Anywho, I am now 21w1d pregnant with another little boy and so far this pregnancy has been a lot rougher than my first.  I was sick everyday for the entire 1st trimester, all day long! Fortunately, I only get nauseous every once in a while now.  I've had a lot of aches and pains, and I have a pretty big & painful hernia right above my uterus and under my ribs.  My next doctors appointment is on Oct. 30th, and I will find out if I will end up on lifting restrictions. (Not so good news for neither my son nor I).  I get easily out of breath, which is no fun when taking care of a rambunctious 3 year old, and also taking care of patients in the nursing home as a CNA.
This week so far; I woke up this morning throwing up for the first time in a long time, but after eating breakfast I feel much better.  I am very sore in various parts of my body, but that is partly because of working a 16 hour shift yesterday.  I think I have forgotten what a tole pregnancy can take on your body, both physically and emotionally.  Normally I could have functioned with one cup of coffee, for 16hrs straight without any moaning or groaning, but yesterday was not that kind of day for me.  I'll be more hesitant next time I'm offered the extra hours in one full day.

I am going to start blogging every week to update you with information with my pregnancy. :)

-xoxo
